What is Camp Lejeune?

If you served at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune or Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) New River in North Carolina, you may have had contact with contaminants in the drinking water there. Scientific and medical evidence has shown an association between exposure to these contaminants during military service and development of certain diseases later on. If this sounds like you, you may qualify for compensation.

What happened in Camp Lejeune?

According to the Agency for Toxic Substance and Disease Registry (ATADR), the contamination began and continued to expose base workers, service members and families at the US Marine Corps Base Lejeune in Jacksonville, North Carolina in 1953 until 1987.

In 1982, the US Department of Navy discovered dangerous chemicals that contaminated the drinking water known as volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

What are the chemicals found in the drinking water?

The toxic VOCs found in the drinking water included:

Exposure to these chemicals increases the risk of birth defects. Benzene, TCE and VC are all classified as cancer-causing chemicals.

How has this controversy resurfaced?

In August 2022, the US government passed the Camp Lejeune Justice Act of 2022. It is part of honoring our Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics (PACT) Act which focuses on addressing issues that affect veterans who were exposed to toxic materials during service. <Because of this new law, any veterans who were affected/exposed can now seek compensation by filing a Camp Lejeune lawsuit.

How can we help you?

For years, the Napoli Shkolnik Law Firm has been fighting for the voiceless US families and Veterans seeking justice.

If you know someone who was affected by water contamination at Camp Lejeune, we encourage you to help them and work with us to get the justice they deserve. Anyone who worked or lived at the camp for at least 30 days from August 1, 1953 to December 31, 1987 is now entitled to compensation from this lawsuit.
